Having said that, I am not too sure the Sci-fi channel of the 1990s would have fit either.

I can't help but feel a Canadian co-production would have fit better. Yes, that would have meant a greatly reduced budget, but the odd ball nature of the show would have felt more at home here than in America. After all, we helped give the world Lexx ;)Noyerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03694828358799780115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4766006053140908689.post-18303195241058036302010-02-02T03:45:05.607-05:002010-02-02T03:45:05.607-05:00Hi! After reading your thorough review on Doctor ...Hi! After reading your thorough review on Doctor Who: The Movie, I'm compelled to rewatch it and see if my opinion of it is the same as it was before. I saw it shortly after watching the 2005 season with Chris Eccleston and while the TV movie has it ups (McGann most notably), it also has its downs (the script problems you mentioned and it felt too Americanized at some points). At least the New Who and the audio plays did give the Eighth Doctor as well as Doctors Five through Seven their due.

An interesting point you mentioned was that the Fox Network was an odd place to air the movie, something I did not consider much until now. In fact, Doctor Who would also have been at odds with the other three networks: NBC, CBS, and ABC. What would have happened if the movie premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel instead? All I can say is I'm glad that Who's return to TV waited until 2005.Clairehttp://mayclaire.res-alian.com/index.htmlnoreply@blogger.com
